Who We Are

Christian Action Ministries  serves to combat food insecurity in Taney County, just as we have since 1984.  Last year, that meant that we were able to provide more than 40,000 individual cases of assistance with nearly 500,000 meals provided and over 2,000,000 pounds of food distributed.  We know that we can do this only through the power of the Holy Spirit and the many, many contributions of our volunteers and our partners who generously share their blessings with our neighbors.  Thank you!

Serving Our Neighbors in Need

Our Story

In 1984, eleven churches met to discuss a growing problem – how to minister to the poor and needy of this community in a more structured way.  Each church was experiencing increasing demands on both resources and involvement of church staff from people begging for assistance.  There was evidence of duplication of services and abuse of resources by some clients.

These churches joined with other community leaders and formed a joint ministry named

Christian Action Ministries to serve as the local outreach food pantry.

The eleven churches were Branson Bible Church, Branson Christian Church, Branson Hills Assembly of God, Branson United Methodist, Nazarene Church of Branson, First Baptist Church, First Presbyterian Church, Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Our Savior Lutheran and St. Paul’s Lutheran Churches that later became Faith Lutheran Church, Community of Christ Church, and Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church.

The board of directors spent a year building the foundation of the organization and identifying the most pressing needs of the community.

With the cooperation of these participating churches and the community, Christian Action Ministries opened the food pantry in March 1985, and is now located at 2400 State Highway 165

We added a second location in Forsyth and mobile outreach distributions to Bradleyville, Cedarcreek, Protem, Rockaway Beach, Merriam Woods, Hollister, and Branson to the ministry.

Last year, Christian Action Ministries assisted more than 40,000 residents of Taney County and distributed in excess of two million pounds of food.

Here at Christian Action Ministries, we are driven by a single goal;

to serve our Lord and Savior by serving His children.

Our vision is to help people obtain needed resources, to encourage self-sufficiency and independence, and bring together the caring communities -- religious, business, and individuals -- in a manner that provides dignity and respect for those we are commissioned to serve.
